Sewanee’s Fourth of July Parade Committee is proud to announce that Dixon and Annwn Myers are the Grand Marshals for 2021. The Myers moved to Sewanee in August of 1989. Since then, they have had a significant impact on the community.
Prior to their arrival on the Mountain, both Annwn and Dixon lived and worked in Mississippi, Annwn as a priest for several congregations and Dixon as a private contractor and property manager. Their move to Sewanee was the result of Annwn having been called to serve the Sewanee community as Associate Chaplain at All Saints. During that time, she served as pastoral counselor to a whole host of students and coordinated all the major University events taking place in the Chapel. She remained in that position until 2012, when she moved to the School of Theology to take on the new role of Associate Dean for Recruitment and Admissions. She served in that capacity until her retirement in 2017. Along the way, she coordinated several years’ worth of the Friday School Program at Sewanee Elementary School and was an active member of the PTA. Currently, she supports the Sewanee Children’s Center as a member of their Board and oversees their fundraising activities.
Dixon joined the University staff in 1991, taking on the role of coordinator for the All Saints’ Chapel Outreach program. He developed the outreach trip programs (to Costa Rica, Ecuador, Haiti, Jamaica, Miami, New Orleans, New York City) and served as the co-founder of Housing Sewanee, Inc. Dixon currently serves as Associate Director in the Office of Civic Engagement. He continues to coordinate the outreach trip program, as he has done for the past 29 years. He currently serves as President of Housing Sewanee, Inc., is an active member of the Monteagle/Sewanee Rotary Club, and is a member of the Parks Committee of Sewanee. They have two grown children, both graduates of the University, Pierce, C’15, and Tilghman, C’16.
Annwn and Dixon Myers pride themselves on their work in the community for the past 30 years. We are honored to have Annwn and Dixon as the 2021 Grand Marshals. Please join us on Sunday, July 4, to celebrate Annwn and Dixon, two of Sewanee’s finest!
